Avery Dalca is a senior researcher in the SCP Foundation. They are an invaluable employee, known in the Foundation for his ability to notice subtle connections that others easily overlook. Avery is a very enthusiastic employee and tries to brighten everyone else around them.Avery was born in America to immigrant parents. His family struggled financially, so when she was offered the chance to attend college if they enlisted in the military, they jumped at the opportunity to do better for her parents. Sadly, they were sent off to war soon after, and returned after 2 years due to health complications. Upon return he did get to enroll in college, and majored in astronomy and astrophysics. Her senior project focused on black holes and time travel, and the research and theory-crafting Avery did caught the Foundation's attention. They quickly employed Avery and he instantly established a reputation for being quick-witted and empathetic with his coworkers. They are the one who originally picked up on the transmission emitting from Skaro, thus she was made leader of the expedition. He was also tasked with selecting her crew for the trip. It took them a while, having to deliberate on who all would get along for a trip that could take ten years or longer.

Renatas Monte is a senior researcher in the SCP Foundation. They have worked for the Foundation for multiple decades, and likely will work for them until he dies. They have grown from bright eyed and theoretical to tired and analytical. Renatas cares first and foremost about getting the job done.Renatas was born and raised in Greece to a decently wealthy family, though they were more academic than loving as he grew up. He was always made sure to excel in school so as to have the best possible future ahead of him, and from a young age had an interest in space. When he graduated high school, his parents gladly paid to enroll him in the University of Crete, where he majored in astronomy and aerospace engineering. Upon graduation, he started working at the Skinakas Observatory. He was noticed by the Foundation when he found some of the first signals from SCP-2146. Instead of freaking out or raising alarms, he decided to look into it himself, and the Foundation was impressed by the research he did on his own when they found him. After they looked back on his impressive academic record, they were eager to employ him. He moved to America after they hired him in his late 20s.Avery chose Renatas for her crew because she worked with them frequently during her years as a junior researcher. Renatas always made sure they were punctual and methodical in their work, making sure they were timely and pointing out any minute oversights Avery had when they worked together.

Mokushi Jozu

  • Occupation: Junior researcher

  • Height: 5'2" (155cm)

Mokushi Jozu is a junior researcher in the SCP Foundation. She was noted by the Foundation because of her apparent immunity to anomalous art - when the guest list was gone through from an anomalous art exhibit, Mokushi was the only person found to be unaffected by it. She is very curt and to the point with her co-workers, never found dawdling (unless Avery has roped her "into something foolish," as she likes to put it.)Mokushi was born in America to immigrant parents. Her father was an artist who struggled to make ends meet, while her mother was an office worker who supplemented the rest of their needs. Mokushi looked up to her father and wanted to be an artist like him, but her mother constantly degraded her and her work. She had a rather turbulent home life, between a father who loved her, and a mother who left her traumatized. Her father appreciated her enthusiasm for art, and tried his best to encourage her where he could. Her mother, on the other hand, derided her for any slight error. To Mokushi's dismay, she was also a clumsy child, which led to her breaking, spilling, and knocking over many things. Her mother constantly took out her anger on the girl for this clumsiness, leaving her fearful of making mistakes and constantly looking over her shoulder. It was during a family reunion that a fight broke out between Mokushi and her mother that resulted in Mokushi shoving her mother and running from the scene; unknown to her, she had knocked over a candle, which eventually lit up the whole house, killing everyone in her family except for her. After this, she was left to fend for herself, with no support from an inhertiance. She picked up whatever odd jobs she could, suffering through most of them, but managing to keep herself afloat. In her scarce free time she liked to draw and attend art exhibitions - and it was because of one of these exhibitions that the Foundation discovered her. An anartist slipped into one of these exhibitions and put their anomalous art on display which induced insanity in all who viewed it - except for Mokushi. She was the only person on the guest list who wasn't exhibiting the concerning symptoms that everyone else was. She was found to be immune to memetic hazards, and the Foundation offered to employ her well above the pay of all the jobs she'd worked in the past added together. She made friends with Avery when they happened across each other on a field assignment, and the two grew close over time. Avery specifically requested for Mokushi to be on the Tardus crew when assembling the list due to the strong trust established between them.

Hường Hoa

note: i know this song is korean. it still suits her

  • Occupation: Junior researcher

Hường Hoa is a junior researcher in the SCP Foundation, turned from an anartist past. She was discovered and detained during the Friday exhibition, and instead of fighting back like other anartists did, she elected to offer up information and join the Foundation. Hường met Mokushi relatively soon after being employed to the Foundation, and the other girl immediately showed interest in the fellow artist.Hường was born in Vietnam, and moved to America with her parents when she was 14. She was known to be a troublemaker, doing petty thefts and leaving graffiti where she could. She was decently well-off, but grew up with parents that hardly turned an eye to her. She has an older sister and two older brothers, as well as a little sister. To her parents, her oldest brother was always the most impressive, and her baby sister was to be doted upon, leaving her feeling invisible. Hường committed these petty crimes in hopes that her parents would notice for something, to no avail. When she and her family moved to America, she near-instantly fell in with a bunch of anartists in the area. They already appreciated street work like graffiti, but they showed her that art could be so much more than just paints and sketches and colors. She quickly learned the ropes of anomalous art, and furthered her techniques as much as possible. She attended the Friday exhibition with some of her own art, which is what ultimately exposed her to the Foundation. Instead of resisting the agents, she asked if she could sell out to join the Foundation instead. The agents were skeptical, but tentatively accepted the bargain. Hường quickly proved her honesty and helped make quick work of the rest of the exhibition.Because of her anartist past, Hường feels like everyone's eyes are on her in the Foundation. She feels the need to reach a higher standard to prove herself as better than her past.Hường was recruited to the team by Mokushi's request. When Mokushi approached Hường to tell her about the expedition and asked if she wanted to join, Hường was eager both to have more time with Mokushi, as well as an opportunity to prove herself as a competent (or even impressive) researcher. She is also appreciative of the chance to go to space, and even a different planet.

Emil Oberto

  • Occupation: Security guard

  • Age: 29

  • Born: 26 October 1993

  • Height: 6'0" (180cm)

Emil Oberto is a guard in the SCP Foundation. Before working for the Foundation, he was a decently reputable prison guard. He did - and does - his duty, without excess. His job is first and foremost to protect, and he only employs violence if absolutely necessary. Emil displays incredible restraint compared to other people in his line of work.Emil was born and raised in southern Italy to a family that constantly financially struggled. His father was in and out of prison due to his oftentimes illegal efforts to make money to make ends meet, and faced regrettable abuses by fellow inmates as well as the workers. Emil valued the time that he did have with his father, between incarcerations and crimes. Growing up and hearing about the things that were done to his father made him want to become a security guard to try to make change in the system, even if he was the only one doing different. Upon graduating high school, he pursued this wish and was hired close to home as a corrective officer and immediately started working to show that things could be better. He easily grew a reputation as dependable and trustworthy with the inmates - whenever a fight broke out, he was often the first (and usually only) guard on the scene to break it up. When he successfully got them to split apart, he would sit and talk with them to understand what happened. Once the issue was clear he would try to find the best solution for it to not happen in the future. During his tenure, the tensions between inmates decreased drastically and they often turned to him for help because he proved time and again that he would at least try to help, where others would often ignore unless necessary.

headnote: i am ignoring the canon 096 story to have my own fun <3

The prison Emil worked at was the first place that SCP-096 was discovered. Emil was on-duty at the time, and one of the first guards to notice that something terrible was happening with the inmates. He was the first guard to take action, putting the facility in lockdown to prevent entrance or exit. Once in full lockdown, efforts were made to restrain 096, but Emil was the only survivor due to his aversion of eye contact (and generally looking at people). When the Foundation arrived on-scene and found that he was the first person to make containment efforts, as well as the only survivor, they took him in as a security guard.Emil was chosen for the expedition by Avery because they previously worked together on a detainment mission. At the time it went horribly awry, and Emil was the first person to jump to action to resolve the situation and prevent anyone from getting further injured.

Mokushi's Nightmare

Avery woke up groggily, eyes bleary in the darkness. The darkness? Avery thought. The ship had a day/night cycle for the lights - if it was still dark, then -Avery felt someone shake him, and heard Mokushi quietly say his name. "Avery."Realizing Mokushi was trying to wake her up, Avery sat up and rubbed their eyes. With their hands still over their face, they started, quietly, "Mokushi? What's going on? What's wrong?"He scooted to the side of the bed, sitting up in front of Mokushi. He heard the blue-haired girl sniffle, and realized that she was wiping her own tears. Immediately, they reached out to pull her closer for a hug. "Hey, hey, Moku. What's wrong? Are you okay?" She said, holding Mokushi close and rubbing her back.Mokushi descended into a fit of crying as she leaned forward into Avery's embrace. He had no idea what was wrong, but she was upset, so of course he would stay like that as long as she needed. Until she was able to talk again.Mokushi's crying got more intense, her breath hiccuping as she tried to inhale between sobs. "It's alright, Mokushi," Avery continued, letting their head rest against her. "Just let it out. It's going to be okay. I'm here for you." She continued on like this, quietly - and sleepily - mumbling words of consolation to the distressed girl.Eventually, Mokushi managed to compose herself. When she did, she pulled away from Avery's hug to climb onto his bed and lean on them. Avery put his arm around her, and asked, "Can you tell me what happened?"Mokushi furrowed her eyebrows, still upset from the nightmare. "It was... it was about my family..." she squeezed out, her voice cracking with emotion. Avery leaned over and kissed her forehead. "It's okay, Mokushi. I know it still hurts."

Mokushi woke up with a start, immediately sitting up and breaking down into tears. She was re-living that same damned day again - fighting with her mother, shoving her away, running away. The only difference, always in her nightmares, was that she was forced to watch. She stopped and watched and saw the house go up in flames, knowing that her family was inside, knowing that she was powerless, knowing that it was her fault.Every single time it burned her heart the same way it burned their bodies - agonizingly, with no mercy. She cried ugly, deeply perturbed by this incessant nightmare. Mokushi leaned forward and hugged her knees, sniffling and hiccuping as she tried to force herself to quiet down.Mokushi wiped her eyes for the dozenth time and let out a shaky breath before turning and getting up out of her bed. She was too upset to be able to fall back asleep - and there was only one person that would understand or be able to help. Her bedroom door slid open electronically as she activated the panel next to it. The hallway was dark except for the lights lining the floor - it must've been just a few hours before the day cycle started on the ship. Mokushi shuffled down the hall, socks silencing her steps.Avery's room was just adjacent to hers, a few feet down on the other side of the hallway. Mokushi activated their door to enter, and walked up to their bed and shook them gently. "Avery," she whispered as the door automatically shut. "Avery. Wake up," Mokushi mumbled. "...please."Avery rolled over and groaned a little, clearly deep in sleep. Mokushi shook her a little harder and repeated his name. "Avery." He finally woke up, sitting up, looking puzzled.Tears were still falling from Mokushi's eyes when Avery came to, and asked, "Mokushi? What's going on? What's wrong?" as they moved to the side of the bed.The amount of care Avery had for her hit Mokushi with a new wave of emotions, prompting her to start crying again, sniffling from her runny nose and moving to wipe her eyes again. Mokushi heard Avery move and felt them reach out to pull her closer, into one of their warm hugs. The safety imposed on her by Avery moved her from tears back to full-blown sobbing. She leaned in to him and returned the hug, holding on like it was the only thing that could save her. They stayed like that for a few minutes, Mokushi crying into Avery's shoulder as they quietly tried to console her.Eventually, Mokushi was able to calm herself down out of her hysterical sobbing. After a final, shaky exhale, she crawled onto Avery's bed and leaned heavily against her.

Emil's Nightmare

Emil leaned against the wall, silently observing his co-workers. They were sitting together playing a card game, largely ignoring and neglecting their duties. Most had their backs turned to the viewing window, and those who didn't were paying it no mind anyways. He was the only one who was occasionally glancing between the guards and the window, thus the first one to see that thing - later dubbed 096 - go lunging out of one cell to start mauling one of the prisoners."Hey..." Emil started, rather loudly, as he turned to the other guards and gestured towards the glass that separated the two rooms. He got his co-workers' attention, all of them looking to him, some of them following his arm and looking through the window - and, to Emil's now-educated dismay, at 096. This was the moment that always overtook him - he felt responsible. At the time, of course, he had no idea what caused it to happen. It was an innocent mistake. Nobody else blamed him for it - how could he take preventative action on information that didn't exist at the time?Apparently done with its other victim, 096 broke through the window and went directly for his co-worker Simone. Gunfire broke out as the other guards tried to stop it, tried to save her, but it was useless - and Emil was the only one who didn't try. When it happened, he left the room, he ran away from what was going on, to rush to the warden's office to put the facility on lockdown. Nothing in, nothing out. He hoped it would stop whatever that thing was....But, in this version, he was forced to watch as the people he knew were ripped to pieces. He couldn't make it to the door, he couldn't even turn towards the door. It was horrific, and always painful to watch. The trauma of it turned his mind to static, everything fading out and just turning to painful white noise, as he finally jolted awake, freezing cold from the nightmare. It was dark in his room. He preferred the darkness after his nightmare - it was more calming, not being able to see anything. Emil sat up, pulling up his knees to hug them. He sighed as he put his head on top of them.Emil honestly couldn't even think after waking up from that dream. There was nothing in his mind - not the sight of gore, not regret, not fear, nothing. It was uncannily silent. The security guard sat there in his bed for quite a while - he never knew how long. He tended to ignore clocks and time - it didn't completely matter on the Tardus, anyways. In spite of this fact, when thoughts finally returned to his mind, the first one was What time is it?Emil turned to the bare far wall of his room. 03:27. The ship's day cycle wouldn't start for another two or three hours.Sighing, the black-haired man turned towards the side of his bed and put his legs down. He stretched out, small cracks coming from his spine, before standing up. He knew he wouldn't be able to fall asleep after that, at least not quickly, so he headed out of his room and to the galley. He wasn't particularly hungry, but it was ritual for him to make a cup of coffee whenever he woke up in the middle of the night. It made him feel better to just get up and do something. The Tardus halls were dimly lit by floor lights, just enough to navigate by. Emil shuffled quietly down the halls, listening to his socks and pants ruffle on the floor as he made his way to the galley. It was dark in the galley when he walked in, so he toggled the overhead light. It slowly faded in, revealing the rather barren galley. There was a line of counter space on either side with cabinets above, a sink, an electric stove, a microwave, a coffee machine, and a fridge. Emil opened the cabinet above the coffee machine, where the crew understandably kept the coffee filters and grounds.Emil went through the motions of making a pot of coffee - filling the machine with water, placing a filter in the basket, measuring out coffee to be brewed. Emil always liked it stronger than the rest of the crew, but couldn't usually brew it like he liked because it had to be shared amongst them. Since it was so early, he set up the machine to make just a single cup of strong coffee.Once all the pieces were in place, Emil pressed the "brew now" button and sat down at the cafeteria-style table in the middle of the room.

**M: **Are you okay?
E: I'm going to start charging people money to ask me that.

E: Aren’t you sugar and spice and everything nice?
A: Well, aren’t you rudeness and sarcasm and everything... Oh...
E: No, go on. You find something that rhymes with “sarcasm” and makes sense and I’ll stop acting like an asshole.

R: The thing about youth culture is... I don’t get it.

A: What do you normally do when I’m gone?
M: Wait for you to get back.

H: I ate the “do not eat” packet in the pepperoni... Am I going to die?
R: Well, everyone will die at some point.
H: EVERYONE? Oh, God, what have I DONE?

M: Is Emil... laughing?
A: [nods]
M: I’ve never been more scared in my life.

E: I wanna be taken out.
A: On a date or with a sniper?
E: Surprise me.

M, seeing E cooking: Any chance that’s for me?
E: It’s for Avery. I’m planning on making some bad choices tonight, and I need them on my side.
H: I never realized the forethought that went into being a disappointment.

M: I need Hường there. I need someone to glance at when other people inevitably annoy me.

M: I’m making dinner tonight. You should come over.
H: Okay, sure.
M: I’m making spaghetti and meatballs.
H: “Swag”hetti and “meme”balls.
M: You’re uninvited.
H: That’s fair.

A: Be responsible for your own happiness, you know?
E: Good lord, that’s depressing.
A: No, it’s not!
E: I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast.

E: If the apocalypse comes, text me.

K: My partner is too tall for me to kiss them on the lips. What should I do?
E: Punch them in the stomach and when they double over in pain, kiss them.
H: Tackle them.
R: Dump them.
M: Kick them in the shin.
A: NO TO ALL OF THOSE! JUST ASK ME TO LEAN DOWN!

A: What’s your favorite color?
M: Stop asking stupid questions. Ask me something logical and mature.
A: How many moles of sodium bicarbonate are needed to neutralize 0.8ml of sulfuric acid at STP?
M: My favorite color is yellow.

H: A theif.
M: Thief?
H: Theif.
M: I before E, except after C.
H: Thceif.
M: No.

A: Mokushi...
M: Oh no, 'Mokushi' in b-flat.
M: You're disappointed.

A: Emil and I are having a baby.
M: That's gre-
A, slamming adoption papers on the table: It's you, sign here.

A: If I die, my funeral is going to be the biggest party ever and you’re all invited
E: If?
M: Great, the only party I’ve ever been invited to and they might not even die.

A: Who thinks I can fit 15 marshmallows in my mouth?
M: You’re a hazard to society.
H: And a coward. DO TWENTY.

A: Tell Hường about the birds and the bees.
R: They're disappearing at an alarming rate.

M: Why are you on the floor?
E: I'm depressed.
E: Also I was stabbed, can you get Avery, please.

A: I’m gonna put my A down to make ‘A.’
E: I will add onto your 'A’ to make 'AT.’
R: I’ll add onto your 'AT’ to make 'RAT.’
M: I will add onto your 'RAT’ to make 'BIOSTRATIGRAPHIC.’
H, knocking the board onto the floor: Oh no, tidal wave!

A: I think I’m falling for you.
E: Then get up.

H: I think I’m falling for you.
M: Then get up.

A: I will help you.
M: Is that a promise?
A: It's more than a promise. It's a pinky promise.
A, later: That promise launched a friendship so grand it takes 103 scrapbooks to capture.

H: Have I ever told you how much I love you?
A: We are not stopping at McDonald’s.
H: This is bullshit.

E: I’ll do whatever I want when I’m 80.
R: If you’re still alive when you’re 80 I’ll demand a medical explanation.

H: I thought that was a rule that didn’t matter. Like running with scissors.
M: That is a rule that matters!

E: It’s shit.
M: It is very unpleasant...

R: I have a resting bitch face. Emil has a “I hope we all die” face. It’s a subtle difference.

A: Would you date a guy who’s a little shorter than you?
M: No.
A: That’s a little shallow.
M: I’m a lesbian, Avery.

H: My hands are cold.
M: Oh, here! *holds Hường’s hands*
H:
H: Uh, my lips are getting cold too.

M: I failed my mission.
R: Yes, you did.
M: I’m a miserable failure.
R: Yes, you are.
M: You know, I could use some words of encouragement.
R: Yes, you could.

M: They died!
R: Just a little.

E, to A: If I were to let my ridiculously high walls down for anyone, it would be for you.

A: The first thing we want to say, Emil, is that we love you very much, and this is not an attack.
E, in shock: It’s worse. It’s a goddamn intervention.

A: This is such a bad idea.
E: Then why are you coming along?
A: One of us need to be able to talk the cops out of arresting us when this inevitably goes wrong.

M: In light of what you did for me, you can hug me for four to five seconds.
A: FORTY FIVE SECONDS?!?
M: No! Four to five seconds!
A: Too late!!!

A: Treat spiders the way you want to be treated.
E: Killed without hesitation.
A: No.

Store Worker: Would an Avery please come to the front desk?
A, at the desk: Hello, is there a problem?
Worker: [points to Hường and Mokushi]
Worker: I believe they belong to you?
H and M, simultaneously: We got lost :(
A: I didn’t even bring you guys here with me-

E: Avery and I don’t use pet names.
M: I see. Hey, what do bees make?
E: Honey?
A: Yes, dear?
E:
M: Don't ever lie to my face again.

A: You have to apologize to Mokushi.
E: Fine.
E: 'Unfuck you' or whatever.

A: Hường, what did you have for breakfast this morning?
H: Smartie cereal.
A: I didn't even know Smarties made a cereal.
H: They don't. It's just Smarties in a bowl with milk.

K: It wouldn’t be Christmas without a little emotional scarring.

A: You called Emil instead of me for help?
H: Well, when you want to do something stupid, you don’t call the voice of reason.

M: Sorry. I lost my cool for a second there.
E: Can’t lose what you never had.

M: I hate you with every inch of my body!
E: That’s not a lot of inches.

H: What's goin' on with you and Emil?
A: Nothing.
H: I think you're wrong.
A: I think I'm not.
H: I think you're getting together.
A: We're not.
H: But you want to.
A: Yes.
H: I think-- wait, what?
A: See, sometimes if I slam on the brakes, you run right past.

M: Can you at least TRY to see things from my perspective?
E: [crouches]
H: [kneels]
A: [squats]
M: I HATE ALL OF YOU!

E: There is something I’ve got to get off my chest.
K: Is it your shirt? Please say yes.

A: Why are you like this?
E: I used too much No More Tears shampoo in 1973 and haven’t felt a single emotion since then.

M: We were helping Emil write his vows but he kicked us out because Hường kept making inappropriate suggestions.
H: How is “Avery, I love your sweet ass” inappropriate?

A: Destiny is calling!
E: I wish destiny would lose our number.

H: We need to talk.
M: What’s wrong?
H: Can we get Chinese food?
M: Is that what you want to talk about?
H: Yeah.

R: You’re running away from your feelings.
E: Yeah? So what? I hate my feelings.

M: Someone will die.
A: Of fun!

A: Were you drinking?
E: Avery, do we really have to do this? You ask if I was drinking, I say “no”, and we both know that that’s not true. I mean, aren’t we past this point in our relationship?

R: Here's some advice.
M: I didn't ask for any.
R: Too bad. I'm stuck here with my thoughts and you're the only one who talks to me.

H: Whaddya call a fish with no eye?
R, not looking up: Myxine Circifrons.
H:
H: fsh...

A: I’m kind of crushing on someone, but I’m worried about telling you who it is, because you’re not going to like it
M: Just rip the bandage off.
A: It’s Emil.
M: Put the bandage back on.

A: Let me show you a picture from last night that really upset me
E: Okay, but in my defense, Hường bet me 50 cents I couldn’t drink all that shampoo.
A: That’s not what I wanted to- you drank SHAMPOO?!

A: Emil, keep an eye on M today. She's going to say something to the wrong person and get punched.
E: Sure, I’d love to see Mokushi get punched.
A: Try again.
E, sighing: I will stop Mokushi from getting punched.
